This high-level gathering brought together municipal leaders, policymakers, and business stakeholders to explore strategies for improving regulatory frameworks and strengthening public–private collaboration. My keynote addressed inclusive economic development, social procurement, and the role of inner-city revitalization in the lead-up to the Winter Olympics.

As a contributing member of the Inner-City Inclusivity Steering Committee established by the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Organizing Committee (VANOC), I played an active role in shaping strategies to ensure the Games delivered long-term, inclusive benefits to Vancouver’s inner-city communities. At a strategic session held at UBC’s downtown campus, I delivered a presentation focused on equitable economic development, social procurement, and housing security—core pillars of the Inner-City Inclusive Commitment Statement. This work reflected a deep commitment to community-first planning in global event legacy development.
